What is DNEP Free Accounting?

DNEP Free Accounting is a way for Detroit small business owners and entrepreneurs to get free consulting assistance in the areas of accounting and finance. Consultation appointments are free, and business owners can schedule as many appointments as needed. See a list of sample services below.

Services we offer:

Quickbooks: Support setting up or using accounting software
Analyses and Projections: Generate break-even analyses and start-up cost projections
Financial Statements: Create and explain common financial statements (Income statements, Balance sheets, Profit & Loss statements)
Payback Period Forecasts: Forecast payback periods for loans
Cost Structure Analysis: Analyze cost structure for products
Financial Data Review: Review financial data for accuracy

Dolan Dworak

DNEP Accounting Consultant, 2019-present

I’m a senior at the University of Michigan's Stephen M. Ross School of Business and College of Engineering and Computer Science, studying strategy & technology, with an additional study in Japanese. I’m interested in product management, real estate, fintech, as well as other emerging business sectors. I have been an accounting consultant with DNEP since 2019 and really enjoy working with small businesses. Born in the Bay Area, I was always attracted to Detroit through my affinity for old Motown records.

DNEP Free Accounting (formerly Free Accounting Fridays) is a collaboration between the University of Michigan’s Detroit Neighborhood Entrepreneurs Project (DNEP), an initiative to connect U-M faculty, students and staff with Detroit small business owners and entrepreneurs, and Business+Impact at the Ross School of Business. DNEP is an educational program of the Center on Finance, Law & Policy and led by a group of faculty from across the University.
